What is Lean Overview?

Lean Overview will show you how to tie together lean concepts and techniques that are often applied in a discrete or piece-meal manner. You will be able to better see and communicate the value flow throughout your organisation and provide the basis for a holistic approach to lean.

Lean Tools

Lean tools will be experienced in a factory simulation. The lean tools include 5s, Waste Elimination, TPM, Standardised Work, Error Proofing, Visual Factory, Pull Systems, Level Production, and Lean Measurement Systems (including accounting for a lean factory).

Structured Implementation

Participants will experience a structured implementation to lean using TSD’s five phases for lean implementation. Don’t try and do everything at once, co-ordinate your cultural change program(s) to achieve immediate financial benefit.

About the workshop

Based on the highly acclaimed book, Learning to See, by Mike Rother and John Shook this workshop will build on your existing understanding of lean & agile manufacturing and show you a powerful value stream mapping technique for creating lasting improvement in your business. Participants will follow a product's production path from the beginning to the end, by drawing a visual presentation of every process in the material & information flows. They will then draw (using icons) a "Future Map" of how value should flow.

The workshop benefits

Using a simple factory example participants will learn how to identify a product family, how to see the entire value stream for a particular product family, how to map the value stream to identify and eliminate waste, what makes a value stream lean, and how to develop a plan to achieve immediate results.
By implementing the lessons learned, participants' organisations will be able to:

Anthony is a former member of the Ford Motor Company where he coached suppliers to become lean using the Value Stream Mapping tool in both the US and Australia. Anthony's experiences in production management leading re-engineering efforts from mass production environments to lean methods provides invaluable insight into the most effective method for success with Lean Manufacturing implementation.
